What is a Workplace Lawyer?

If you are injured at work, have been dismissed or made redundant or suffered workplace discrimination or sexual harassment, Nevett Ford Lawyers can help you.

Advising you of the law relating to workplace matters can be complex and it is important that in order to protect your interests you obtain the best advice possible.

Established in the 1850s, Nevett Ford is one of Victoria’s leading law firms specialising in Workplace relations matters. The head of our workplace law section, Mr Philip Brewin, is one of the few lawyers in Australia accredited by the Law Institute of Victoria as a Workplace Relations specialist. Specialist accreditation indicates to potential clients the special skills and competence of a lawyer in a particular area of practice. As a leading law firm, Nevett Ford has accredited specialists in a number of different areas of law.

Only practitioners who complete an LIV accredited specialist course of assessment can call themselves an accredited specialist. Before a lawyer can apply for accreditation, it is necessary to demonstrate at least five years full time practice and a substantial involvement in the area of specialisation during the three years prior to an application.

Nevett Ford Lawyers are proud of the fact that its clients in workplace relations matters are not solely employers or employees, but a mix of both. Once we are engaged by a client, it is the client’s interests we are fighting for irrespective of whether their status is as employer or employee. We believe that this approach provides a sensible level of balance in dealing with matters.
